Dingle Bay Wildlife Update: What We’ve Been Seeing in July 2026
Dingle Bay wildlife has been incredible over the past few weeks. If you’ve been following our social media lately, you’ll know it’s been an incredible few weeks of out on the water.
July has brought us a long spell of calm seas and sunny weather, making for some fantastic days exploring Dingle Bay and beyond. While the scenery is always beautiful, it’s the wildlife that has really made this month one to remember.
One of the biggest highlights has been the sheer number of minke whales we’ve been seeing. They’ve been showing up on so many of our tours, and we’ve been lucky enough to witness some incredible feeding activity.
When we spot a whale, we slow right down, cut the engine and let the bay do the rest. Watching the water come alive around us is something we’ll never take for granted. Seeing a minke whale lunge feed, with seabirds diving all around it, is one of those moments that leaves everyone on board in awe.
The common dolphins have been just as incredible. On some days we’ve come across pods numbering in the hundreds, with dolphins popping up wherever you look. Whether they’re swimming alongside the boat or surfacing in every direction, they never fail to put a smile on everyone’s face.
We’ve also had a few lovely sightings of bottlenose dolphins throughout the month, which has been an added bonus. The waters around the Dingle Peninsula are home to such a variety of marine life, and every trip reminds us just how lucky we are to witness it. From the cliffs and islands to the open Atlantic beyond, there is always something new to discover.
The birdlife hasn’t disappointed either. Puffins have continued to make regular appearances on our trips, often spotted further offshore. They’re always a favourite with passengers, and we love watching them race across the water before finally taking off with those tiny wings working overtime. They won’t be with us for much longer before heading off for another year, so every sighting feels that little bit more special.
Alongside the bigger wildlife encounters, we’ve also enjoyed plenty of smaller moments that make a day at sea so special, from the sound of seabirds overhead to the ever-changing views of the coastline. With feeding whales, diving seabirds, dolphins all around and the stunning scenery of the Dingle Peninsula as a backdrop, it’s been one of those months that reminds us just how lucky we are to spend our days out on the water.
No two trips are ever the same, and that’s one of the things we love most about what we do. Every day brings the possibility of something new, and you never quite know what might be waiting beyond the harbour.
As we head into August, we’re excited to see what the next few weeks will bring. Wildlife is always unpredictable, and that’s all part of the adventure. Every day brings something different, whether it’s a close encounter with a dolphin, a whale surfacing in the distance, or simply taking in the beauty of the coastline around us.
