The Height of Summer
July is peak summer on the Dingle Peninsula and it shows. The town is full of life, the harbour is buzzing, and visitors arrive from all over Ireland and beyond. Outdoor tables are full, cafés are busy, and there’s a real holiday energy in the air that’s hard not to get swept up in.
There’s no rush here and that’s exactly the point.

Beaches, Coves & Coastal Adventures
July is made for being outside on the Dingle Peninsula.
Ventry Beach is always a favourite with families, long, sheltered, and perfect for swimming and paddling. Inch Beach offers wide open space, big Atlantic views, and that feeling of the world stretching out in front of you.
But some of the best spots are the quieter ones. The peninsula is dotted with small beaches and hidden coves. Bring a picnic, find your spot, and sit with the sound of the waves.
If you’re picking up lunch in town, you’re spoiled for choice. Dingle has some fantastic cafés, bakeries, and takeaway spots serving sandwiches, pastries, coffee, and sweet treats. Grab something and head somewhere scenic.
And when evening comes, make your way to Coumeenoole. Watch the sun go down over the Atlantic and try to leave. We dare you.
Kerry Turns Green & Gold
If Kerry are on their way to the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final, you’ll know about it the moment you arrive in July.
Flags appear on houses, bunting goes up on businesses, cars drive through town flying green and gold, and the whole county turns electric. It’s one of the most wonderfully local things you’ll ever witness, passionate, proud, and completely infectious.
Even if you’ve never watched a GAA match in your life, you’ll find yourself getting caught up in it. Conversations in cafés and pubs turn to football, locals discuss tactics with complete strangers, and there’s a sense of community that you really can’t manufacture.
It’s Kerry being Kerry and it’s something special to be around. 💚💛
The West Kerry Agricultural Show
July also brings one of the most genuinely local events of the year, the West Kerry Agricultural Show.
Held in Dingle Mart, the show has been part of life in West Kerry for decades. Farmers proudly showcase cattle, sheep, and ponies, while visitors can enjoy baking displays, arts and crafts, Irish dancing, and much more.
It’s a brilliant chance to experience a different side of life on the peninsula and see local breeds up close. Many visitors arrive not knowing what to expect and leave having really enjoyed it.
If you get the chance to go, go. It’s the real Kerry.

Out on the Water in July
July is one of the finest months to get out on Dingle Bay. Dolphins are regularly spotted on our tours, minke whales are often seen in local waters during the summer months, and the dramatic coastline and cliffs look extraordinary in the summer light. No two trips are ever the same.
